Free Hreflang Checker
Enter the URLs of your language versions. We fetch each page, read its hreflang annotations and check that every version points back to the others.
Free, with no sign-up. Fair-use limits apply. Text you paste is processed and not stored. To enforce the limits we keep any domain or address you enter and a scrambled form of your IP address for 30 days, as described in our privacy policy.
Why return tags matter
If page A names page B as its French version, page B has to name page A back. Without the return link, the annotation is ignored. This is the most common hreflang error and it is hard to spot by eye.
How to use it
Enter up to a handful of URLs, one per line, one for each language version of the same page, and press Check hreflang. We fetch each page and read the HTML tags and the HTTP header, then show each version’s annotations and a list of problems.
What is reported
- Missing return links between versions.
- Invalid language or region codes.
- A page that does not reference itself.
- Annotations that point at a redirect or an error page.
- Conflicting values for the same language.
