Free Domain Health Check

Enter any domain and get a score out of 100 across DNS, email, SSL/TLS, security and website basics, plus the first problems to fix. No account needed.

Free, with no sign-up. Fair-use limits apply. To enforce them we keep the domain you enter and a scrambled form of your IP address for 30 days, as described in our privacy policy.

What the free domain health check tests

Every website depends on a chain of settings that most people never look at until something breaks. The DNS records send visitors to the right server. The email records decide whether your messages reach an inbox or a spam folder. The certificate puts the padlock in the browser. The response headers protect your visitors, and the website itself has to answer quickly and correctly. This tool runs more than forty separate checks across those five areas in one pass and turns the result into a single score out of 100, with a score for each area so you can see straight away where the weak spot is.

How to use it

Type a domain name into the box above, with or without the www, and press Check domain. A typical run takes between ten and thirty seconds because the tool is really talking to your nameservers, your mail records and your web server rather than reading from a stored copy. If you type www.example.com, email and DNS settings are checked on example.com, because they belong to the domain itself, while the website checks still test both the www and non-www addresses.

How to read your score

Each finding is marked as passed, a warning or a failure. A failure is something that is broken or missing and is likely to cost you visitors, email delivery or trust. A warning is something that works but could be stronger, such as a policy that reports problems without acting on them yet. Information items simply describe what was found.

The area scores show whether the trouble is concentrated in one place. A domain with a perfect website score and a weak email score is usually a sign that the email records were never finished, which is common and easy to fix. A low security score on an otherwise healthy site often points to missing response headers rather than anything seriously wrong.

Problems the check commonly finds

  • No SPF or DMARC record, which leaves your domain easy to imitate and your genuine email more likely to be junked.
  • A certificate that expires within weeks, or a certificate that does not cover the www address.
  • Only one nameserver, or nameservers on the same network, so a single outage takes the domain offline.
  • The plain http address not redirecting to https, or several redirects chained together and slowing every visit.
  • Missing security headers such as HSTS, which browsers use to insist on a secure connection.

What the free version shows and what it holds back

The free version gives you the score, the area scores and the first six problems, with failures listed before warnings. The report that is part of an SEO Web Data account shows every check that was run, explains each one in plain English with the fix, saves the report under your account, keeps a score history so you can see whether things are improving, and lets you re-run it whenever you like.

Why one check is never enough

Domain settings drift. A colleague changes a record, a certificate renewal quietly fails, or a domain approaches its expiry date and nobody notices. Inside an account you can put a domain on a watchlist. It is re-checked every week, and you are alerted when the score drops, when nameserver, mail or SPF and DMARC records change, or when a certificate or registration is close to expiring.

That is only part of the toolkit. An account also includes more than seventy domain tools alongside site audits, rank tracking, Search Console data and reporting, so you can move from finding a problem to fixing it without changing tools. Creating an account takes a couple of minutes, and every plan includes a free trial.

Frequently asked questions

Is the free domain health check really free?

Yes. You do not need an account or a card. Fair-use limits apply so the tool stays fast for everyone, and higher limits come with an account.

Does it change anything on my domain?

No. Every check is read-only. It looks up public records and makes ordinary requests to your website, the same as any visitor would.

Why does the score differ from another tool?

Different tools test different things and weigh them differently. Use the score to track your own progress over time rather than to compare tools.

Can I check a domain I do not own?

You can check any public domain, because everything the tool reads is publicly available. Fixing problems naturally needs access to the domain settings.
