AI visibility readiness audit
Being cited by an AI answer is one thing; being technically reachable by the crawlers behind those answers is the prerequisite for it. This audit scores how legible your site is to AI crawlers specifically — robots.txt access for named bots, structured data, heading and answer structure, contact and organisation signals, and authorship — each with its own evidence, never a guess dressed up as a number.
What's included
- A 0-100 readiness score across five weighted components, each with evidence
- Per-bot robots.txt access for named AI crawlers, split into "answers" and "training" bots
- Unmeasured components are excluded from the score, never counted as a zero
Being cited by an AI answer is one thing; being technically reachable by the crawlers behind those answers is the prerequisite for it. This audit scores how legible your site is to AI crawlers specifically — robots.txt access for named bots, structured data, heading and answer structure, contact and organisation signals, and authorship — each with its own evidence, never a guess dressed up as a number.

How it works
Five components make up the score, each weighted and each scored only when there's real evidence behind it: AI crawler access (checked against robots.txt for named bots like ClaudeBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, GPTBot and others — "answer" bots weighted more heavily than "training" bots, since blocking training crawlers is often a deliberate choice), structured data (Organization, Article, Person and FAQ markup), heading and answer structure, contact and organisation signals, and authorship. A component with nothing to measure is excluded from the overall score entirely rather than scored as zero, and the page shows exactly what percentage of the score is based on real, measured evidence.
The robots.txt check itself is opt-in: viewing the page makes no request at all, and a "Check robots.txt now" button fetches it once, at most once a minute per site, through the same SSRF-guarded fetcher the crawler already uses. Structured data and heading checks come from your existing crawl data.
Why it matters
This is deliberately not a claim about whether any AI product actually cites you — no AI vendor publishes a score like that, and anyone claiming to measure it precisely is guessing. What this measures instead is squarely within reach: whether your site is even reachable and legible to the crawlers those answer engines depend on, which is a real, checkable prerequisite regardless of what any individual AI product decides to do with the content once it's crawled.
It sits alongside the paid AI Search Visibility tracking — that's the "am I being cited" side; this is the "can I even be crawled" side, free and available to every plan.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a prediction that ChatGPT or another AI will cite my site?
No. No AI vendor publishes a citation-prediction score, and this doesn't claim to be one — it measures technical legibility to AI crawlers, not the outcome of any specific AI product's answers.
Which AI crawlers does the robots.txt check cover?
Named bots across both "answer" engines (like OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot) and "training" crawlers (like GPTBot, CCBot, Google-Extended) — weighted differently, since blocking a training bot is often intentional.
Does checking robots.txt happen automatically?
No — viewing the audit makes no request. A "Check robots.txt now" button triggers one fetch, rate-limited to once a minute per site.
What if a component can't be measured?
It's shown as "not measured" with a plain reason and left out of the overall score entirely — never scored as zero for something that was never actually checked.
