Keyword gap explorer
Compare your domain against a competitor's to see exactly which keywords you're missing entirely, which you rank behind on, and which you're already ahead on — using stored domain overviews, so the comparison itself is free.
What's included
- Missing keywords: they rank, you don't
- Behind keywords: you both rank, they're higher
- Ahead keywords: you both rank, you're higher
Each of the three lists shows search volume, keyword difficulty and the ranking page on each side, so it's easy to prioritise: a high-volume keyword you're completely missing is a very different opportunity from one where you're already close behind.
Because it's built from each domain's stored overview, comparing two already-looked-up domains costs nothing extra — only fetching a domain overview that isn't stored yet uses your keyword-search allowance.

How it works
Pick your domain and a competitor's, and the gap explorer matches their stored keyword lists to produce three sets: missing, behind, and ahead, each sorted by search volume by default. Every domain's data reflects only its highest-volume keywords, so “missing” can include a long-tail keyword you already rank for further down that wasn't captured.
Why compare keyword gaps
- Content prioritisation — a missing keyword with real search volume is a concrete case for a new page.
- Quick wins — a “behind” keyword where you're already ranking, just not as high, is often faster to fix than starting from nothing.
- Works with any domain — the competitor side can be any domain looked up in domain overview, not just a tracked competitor.
Frequently asked questions
Does the competitor need to be a tracked website?
No — any domain with a stored domain overview can be used as the competitor side of the comparison.
What counts as "behind" versus "ahead"?
Both sides need to rank for the same keyword; whichever domain's position is a configured margin better is counted as ahead, the other as behind.
Does comparing two domains cost extra?
No — comparing two already-stored domain overviews is free; only fetching a domain overview that isn't stored yet uses your keyword-search allowance.
