Guided onboarding

A short getting-started checklist appears on the dashboard for every new account — add a website, connect Search Console, run the first crawl, set up alerts — so nothing important gets missed in the first few days.

What's included

  • Four-step getting-started checklist
  • Progress derived from real account data
  • Optional next steps: Analytics, keyword tracking

Each step is checked automatically against what the account has actually done — there's nothing to mark complete by hand. A direct button takes you straight to the step (starting a crawl posts right from the list), and if a step needs an account owner or admin, the checklist says so rather than showing a dead end.

The checklist stays out of the way once finished: a short "you're all set up" card appears for a week, then it's gone, and an established account that already did everything is never shown a welcome card for steps it finished long ago.

How it works

The sidebar shows a compact “Getting started n/4” while the checklist is open, and the full list lives at its own page with a direct action for each step. Hiding the checklist is account-wide, so one person dismissing it does not leave teammates confused about whether setup is finished.

Why a guided first run matters

  • Fewer stalled accounts — the steps that make the rest of the product useful (a crawl, a Search Console connection) happen early rather than being discovered by accident.
  • No guesswork — every step is either done or not, based on real data, never a self-reported tick box.
  • Agency-friendly — useful whether you're setting up your own account or a client's, and it never resurfaces for accounts that were already active before the checklist existed.

Frequently asked questions

Can the checklist be hidden?

Yes — hiding it is account-wide and needs edit access; it can be brought back at any time from the Help Centre.

Does it apply to existing accounts?

An account that had already completed every step before the checklist shipped is auto-hidden, so it never shows a welcome card for work that's already done.

Is there a report on how new accounts progress?

Yes — see the onboarding funnel, a Platform Admin view of how far new accounts get through each step and how long it takes.
